philippians 2

Paul is a really cool guy. I feel like he was the one that, although he may not have been the big cheese (i'm under the impression that James was) He wrote all this stuff down and he was always communicating and encouraging all the churches. Paul was the dude that did all the emailing and uplifting and praying and getting almost killed. He spent time with God (he never actually, physically met Jesus) just like I can. Maybe thats why God put so much of his stuff in the bible... so many people are encouraged by what Paul has to say because they can relate. I know I can. I like that, he never met Jesus personally, but he had a really cool experience that changed his life and made him do a full on 180 degree spin and dash. Love it.

He said in verse 6 of chapter 2 in his letter to the philippian church:
5Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus:
6Who, being in very nature God,
did not consider equality with God something to be grasped,
7but made himself nothing,
taking the very nature of a servant,
being made in human likeness.

Jesus was already God. He didn't need to assert his divinity because he was in fact divine. He didn't need to defend himself in front of pilate because he IS the truth... his attitude was simply to please the will of the almighty. He did it to show us how to live. No longer bound to sin, we can rest in our relationship with the Father and simply be his hands and feet. I don't need to prove that I'm a Christian. I just need to be one. If I'm obedient, what else is there?
